Mighty Kids Therapy accepts the following insurance plans:

We will verify your insurance coverage and review these details with you at your first appointment. However, it is important to note that these details are only an estimate and are not a guarantee of coverage. We gather as much information as possible prior to your appointment, but you are ultimately responsible for any services not paid by your insurance provider. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider prior to your first appointment to verify coverage for therapy. Please note developmental delay diagnoses are not always covered by insurance, even when therapy is considered medically necessary by a physician.
If we are not in network with your insurance, we recommend checking your out-of-network benefits with your insurance company. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Physicians and providers can fax referrals to 512-287-4214, email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or follow the link below to complete our online referral form. Once a referral is received, we will contact the patient to conduct the intake and set up the initial appointment. We will fax the full evaluation and plan of care upon completion.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during the evaluation?
Your first appointment is a comprehensive evaluation to get to know your child and assess their current abilities. This includes discussing your concerns, observing and interacting with your child, and performing standardized assessments. We will use this information to create a plan of care tailored to your child’s unique needs. Our front desk will help you schedule future appointments based on the recommended plan of care.
How do I prepare for the evaluation?
Please arrive 10 minutes early to your scheduled evaluation to check in and complete the remaining paperwork. We will need a copy of the guardian’s driver’s license and insurance card. Additionally, we ask that you bring (or fax/email beforehand) any relevant documents from schools, doctors, developmental pediatricians, etc. Please remember to complete the intake form online before your appointment to help our therapists get to know your child ahead of time.
If my child recently had an evaluation done somewhere else, can we transfer services to Mighty Kids?
We are happy to accept a recent evaluation and plan of care from other facilities or schools as long as they meet our criteria and are relevant to the child’s current abilities. Please provide outside assessments before your initial appointment. Our therapists will review the information provided and determine next steps.
How often do we to come to therapy?
At the end of your initial evaluation, your child’s therapist will recommend therapy at a set frequency based on your child’s individual needs. This frequency can vary based on many factors and may change throughout the course of treatment.
What will my child do in therapy?
Whenever possible, we use a play-based approach to therapy. This means it may look like your child seems to be playing in therapy instead of working. This is because play truly is the work of a child! Research has shown that play is the most effective way to teach young children. Children are more motivated to participate in hard work when is it presented as play. Their brains also learn new information better during play. Play can be used to facilitate motor skills, language, self-regulation, social skills, and much more. Our therapists will follow your child’s interests and use creative play activities while targeting your child’s individualized goals. We also incorporate peer play into our sessions when appropriate. Children model for each other and motivate each other. We find that many children reach their goals faster using these play-based and social methods.
Can I attend my child’s therapy sessions?
Yes! You are a vital teammate in your child’s progress. We encourage you to learn from our therapists, whether through observation during sessions or through feedback after sessions. Together, we will decide what works best for your child. We will also provide you with resources, tips, and strategies to help you confidently work with your child at home.
Can I bring siblings?
Due to safety concerns, therapy privacy, and space limitations, only caregivers are allowed to join therapy sessions. Caregivers with siblings will be asked to remain in the waiting room. In these circumstances, feedback will be provided after the session to keep you updated on your child’s progress.
How long are therapy sessions?
Clinic-based therapy sessions are 55 minutes. The first 50 minutes include direct 1:1 treatment. The final 5 minutes are designated for therapists to give feedback regarding your child’s performance, provide home activities, and answer questions. If you have in-depth questions or need more than the allotted 5 minutes after each session for discussion, please let us know so that we can make accommodations to speak with you.
What do I do if I’m running late?
We know that our families at Mighty Kids Therapy often have tight schedules. To deliver the best therapy, we require at least 45 minutes of treatment. If you will be more than 10 minutes late, we ask that you call us so that we can reschedule your appointment. We strive to respect the time of all of our families and appointments, so please make efforts to arrive on time to meet for feedback and to pick up your child.
What if I need to cancel my child’s appointment?
Life happens! We understand life with kiddos can be hectic. If you need to cancel for any reason, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice so that we can work to reschedule your appointment. There is a late cancelation fee for canceled appointments with less than 24 hours notice. Additionally, missed appointments can significantly disrupt your child’s progress in therapy. If you need to cancel an appointment, we will work with you to reschedule it so that your child stays on track.

What is the difference between a therapist and therapy assistant?
Our team includes licensed therapists and licensed therapy assistants, all of whom have passed board exams and hold state certification from their respective governing boards. The primary specialty of therapy assistants is providing therapy treatment. Therapy assistant degree programs focus on developing and implementing treatment to meet therapy goals. They are highly trained in this area and are qualified to provide the very best care for your child. Therapists provide this same level of care in addition to evaluating whether or not a child needs therapy, developing the plan of care, and determining discharge readiness. Both types of clinicians are equally qualified to provide therapy treatment. If you receive services with a therapy assistant, the therapist will do your child's initial evaluation, progress reports, reevaluations, and discharge planning. Our therapists and therapy assistants work together as a team. We believe having teams of therapists and therapy assistants working together enhances the quality of care your child will receive.
